Chickenpox: The Body’s Cleansing Crisis

Chickenpox is usually described in medical terms as a contagious viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. Yet from a Natural Hygiene or terrain-based perspective, it’s not an external attack at all. It’s a self-purifying event — the body’s intelligent way of cleansing itself from accumulated waste and restoring inner balance.

Every so-called disease labelled as “infectious” is, in truth, a process of detoxification. The body, being self-governing and self-healing, initiates this kind of cleansing when its normal eliminative channels — bowels, kidneys, lungs, and skin — become overburdened. Instead of collapsing under the weight of waste, the body uses fever, rashes, and mucus to push impurities outward. Chickenpox is one of the clearest examples of this process at work.

The Body’s Intelligent Discharge

When the skin erupts with spots, it’s not the body malfunctioning — it’s using the skin as an alternative elimination route. The red, itchy blisters are filled with toxic materials that the liver and lymphatic system are trying to expel. The rise in temperature, often called “fever,” is not an enemy either; it’s part of the body’s natural cleansing mechanism. Heat dissolves and mobilises waste, while increased circulation brings nutrients to repair tissues and strengthen the immune terrain.

In the Natural Hygiene understanding, there is no “virus invasion.” The body produces what science calls viruses — small particles of decomposed cellular material — as part of the cleansing process. They are not living attackers, but by-products of detoxification, helping to break down and remove internal debris.

Why It Commonly Appears in Childhood

Children grow rapidly, and their metabolism runs high. They build tissue, consume large amounts of food, and naturally accumulate more waste. Their elimination systems are still developing, and from time to time the body needs to perform a deep cleanse to prevent future obstruction.

Chickenpox gives the body that opportunity. It’s a kind of natural house-cleaning, setting the foundation for stronger health later in life. Many parents in the past recognised this benefit and allowed their children to go through chickenpox naturally, often noticing that they became healthier and more resilient afterwards. Those who experience it once rarely ever have it again, because the terrain has been purified and the body has built genuine, lasting immunity.

Natural Care and Support

True healing comes from allowing the body’s wisdom to work. Rest is the first medicine. During a healing crisis, the body diverts energy from daily functions like digestion to cleansing, so fasting or eating lightly on fruit allows more energy to be used for detoxification. Pure water or diluted fresh juices keep the blood clean and prevent dehydration.

Suppressing the process with creams, painkillers, or anti-fever medication blocks elimination and drives the waste back inside. This can lead to chronic problems later on, as unremoved toxins get stored in deeper tissues. Instead, the aim should be to stay calm, keep the environment clean, and let nature do the work. Gentle air, mild sunlight, and quiet rest all help the body finish its task more smoothly.

The Outcome

Once the rash fades and the body has released its impurities, the skin clears, appetite returns, and energy rises. What follows is a state of greater balance and vitality. This is how the body strengthens itself naturally. Artificial immunisation cannot reproduce this process because it bypasses the body’s own cleansing mechanism. Only nature’s method leads to true, deep immunity.

Chickenpox, then, is not a disease to be feared but a message from the body: “I’m cleansing myself; let me complete this.” When we trust that message, we move from fear and control to respect and cooperation with life’s natural laws.
